PNDP ends 10th anniversary commemoration with exhibition

The exhibition commemorating the 10th anniversary of this program attracted the attention of the population Friday in Yaoundé.

The support provided by the National Program of Participatory Development (PNDP) since 2004 to improve the provision of basic social and economic services in the communes in Cameroon have been unanimously hailed Friday at the Hilton hotel in Yaoundé.

It was on the occasion of the opening of the exhibition completing the events organized to commemorate the 10th anniversary of this program. The Minister of economy, planning and Development, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, who presided over the ceremony, the Director of Operations of the World Bank in Cameroon, Gregor Binkert, the vice-president of Commons and United Cities of Cameroon, Albert Anicet Akoa as well as many other guests expressed their satisfaction after looking at the pictures showing the physical implementation of PNDP on the ground as well as the documentary film containing testimonies of populations and the mayors of the common beneficiaries who spoke of the improvement of framework and the conditions of life through multiple support received.

Some images of the 971 classrooms, 38 health centres, 1,457 water points, 368 rural markets and 465 km of rural roads built caused applause. Next to the 325 communal development plans prepared, 91 plans use and management of lands that have been developed, 673 acts of birth and Identification products for Pygmy 415 cards, 521 communal officers who have been recruited to strengthen the capacity of the municipalities, 1,720 members of the communal Commissions of procurement who have been trained and the management accounting and finance software referred to as SIMBA 53 installed in municipalities to improve governance.

Because PNDP has produced the results expected during its first two phases, the Government already thinks of its sustainability. "We have undertaken to implement the PNDP III, i.e. to negotiate the third phase." We have also undertaken to reflect for its sustainability. What is PNDP going to become? I want to tell you that whatever the formula, PNDP will continue to assist municipalities in the implementation of development projects," said Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi.
