PADFA projects quality production of rice and onion

The Support Programme for the Development of the Agricultural Sector (PADFA) has announced plans of boosting and modernizing the production of rice and onion in the country.

The announcement was made during the fourth session of PADFA’s pilot committee evaluation meeting which took place on Tuesday 16th December 2014 in Yaounde.

During the session, the Committee President, Andrée Caroline Mebande outlined the stakes of the association and the need to organize producers to form cooperatives which will increase production and turnover.

The forum also served as opportunity to evaluate the accomplishments of the Support Programme for the Development of the Agricultural Sector in 2014.

Members of the committee also discussed on how to develop improved varieties of seedlings through research.

The continuous provision of water supply and ensuring that farmers make profits were also tabled for discussion.

It should be recalled that the Support Programme for the Development of the Agricultural Sector (PADFA) is a project under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
