Jean-Marie Akono Zé Jean-Marie Akono Zé

The former manager of the account for licence fees of Crtv, imprisoned in connection with embezzlement in the company left Kondengui prison in Yaounde on June 26 after spending more than 6 months.

In 2006 after an attempt to escape to Gabon, Jean-Marie Akono Zé was released after detention. The former manager of the accounts for licence fees of the Cameroon radio television (Crtv) left Yaounde Kondengui central prison. The traditional Chief of Oman in the Mefou and Afamba, was released June 26, 2015.

The investigating judge of the special criminal court, who was interested in the management of the licence fees of the Crtv in 2004, 2005 and 2006, held no charge against the former president of the Cameroon boxing federation.

We believe that the ex-detainee was able to provide clarification on these accounts for which a report from the Ministry in charge of the control of the State had already identified many anomalies and first sanctions, notably in relation to officials of the Directorate of the Treasury of the Ministry of finance.

Akono Zé has been jailed since December 2, 2014. He was first detained at the guardroom at the headquarters of the judicial police in Yaounde before being transferred to the main penitentiary in the Cameroonian capital. At the time of his arrest, Akono Zé was the fifth suspect involved in the management of the licence fees of Crtv.

He was Mayor of the commune of Awae for 14 months. The municipal magistrate had reason to fear legal action against his person as he was prohibited to leave the country.
