Officials visit iron project site at Mbalam

This was the conclusion drawn by the Governor of Eastern region during his economic tour in the region which eventually took him to the work site.

The Mbalam iron project gradually emerges from the forest massif. Visitors arriving for the first time on this extensive site were happy about the impressive work done by workers. Efforts are focused on clearing and preparation of the rail loop and the infrastructure sites located west of Mbarga, one of the mining mountains located in Cameroonian territory. At the pit of Mbarga, access is already created to link the mining village and airstrip.

Other surrounding areas where iron are found were not left out. They underwent the same process. Specifically in the area of construction of the railway tracks, leading to Mbalam and to the port of Kribi, open the Seaway, technicians provide diligent progress.

This railway line will be used to export extracted iron from Mbalam to Cameroon and Nabeba in Congo. And officials who met on the site reassured that things are going on well on the side of Congo. Indeed, after the call for tenders, launched last March, the installation of the terminal at Lolabe in Cameroon, has been a major concern of the Cameroonian authorities.

On the site, this terminal gradually emerges from the Earth. Ongoing preliminary works at Mbalam are made as a prelude to the operation itself, planned after the finalization of the financing of the project by the partners. According to available research, Mbalam-Nabeba iron ore lies at the level of the surface of the Earth, to the depth of the soil. The amount of the iron deposit discovery is important.

The Governor of the East, Samuel Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua brought encouragement from the Government, to the team during his visit to the field. He encouraged staff to remain determined to meet the specification.
