New rectors for Cameroon universities

Six decrees have been signed by the head of state, Paul Biya, to appoint new officials in State universities, according to CRTV Radio in its 5pm newscast.

The President of the Republic also appointed officials under the Ministry of higher education in diplomatic missions of Cameroon abroad, including South Africa, Germany, Algeria, Belgium, Great Britain, Canada, China, Nigeria, France, Morocco and United States.

The first and most important Decree named Pr. François Xavier Etoa as the Rector of the University of Douala, previously headed by Pr. Dieudonne Oyono. The latter was appointed as the head of the University in Douala only three years ago, where he replaced Pr. Bruno Bekolo Ebe.

Pr. Roger Tsafack Nanfosso, former Vice-Rector responsible for internal control and evaluation at the University of Yaoundé II - Soa, took post at the University of Dschang. He became a Lecturer in 2001 and an Economics Professor since May 2006. He replaced Pr. Anaclet Fomethe, who had succeeded to place this structure, first of all the universities of the Economic Community of Central Africa States (ECCAS), and thus of Cameroon.

There was also a change in Yaoundé II where Pr. Oumarou Bouba, who had been at post since 2012, will hand over to Pr Ibrahima Adamou. The latter, was a Biological Sciences at the University of Ngaoundere, Adamaoua.
