New MINFOF officials tasked to be exemplary

The Minister of Forest and Wildlife, MINFOF, Ngole Philip Ngwese, has enjoined recently appointed officials in his ministry to seek to be on the right side of the law, cautioning that it was only by so doing that neutrality, equality, objectivity and equity can be guaranteed.

Speaking at the event in Yaounde on March 10, 2015, the Minister said he expected the new officials to be exemplary in their professional conduct by being available, disciplined and hard working.

“It is easier to climb up to the top than maintaining oneself there,” he warned, adding that appointments and transfers of staff were necessary in the Civil Service in order to instil a sense of alertness and devotion to duty.

Ngole Philip Ngwese explained that such decisions were also aimed at ensuring better accountability and efficiency in order to prevent familiarity from setting in.

“Shake-ups in the Public Service are like a relay race in which each sprinter has responsibility for a particular section which they seek to run well so that those who take over will do even better,” the Minister told the promoted officers.

He paid tribute to those going on retirement, saying they gave most of their lives to serving the nation; services which were quite appreciated.

Among those appointed on March 4, 2015, by the Minister of Forest and Wildlife, are Research Assistants, Sub Directors and Service Heads under the General Secretariat, the Departments of Forestry, Wildlife and Protected Areas, Promotion and Processing of Forestry Products, and General Affairs.
