New Generals pledge to fight against Boko Haram

New Generals New Generals

The Prime Minister, Philemon Yang, presided over the ceremony for the five promoted Colonels to Brigadier General on August 13, 2015, by a Decree of Paul Biya.

Although he was the representative of Paul Biya, who has been out of the country for five days, Philemon Yang honoured the event with several other members of the government and personalities.

The Brigade Generals; Ezo’o Mvondo Simon, Jacob Kodji, Valère Nka’a, Ndonkep Mehomy Fréderic and Bouba Dobekréo, received two green epaulettes with two stars, a cap and a flag each from Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo'o, Minister for the Presidency in charge of Defense.

After receiving the new responsibilities in a solemnly, the lucky winners were congratulated by the head of government, their families, friends and other acquaintances. The five new senior officers spontaneously stated their commitment to put a stop to the attacks by Boko Haram insurgents.

"We commit ourselves resolutely and faithfully, to fight the supreme sacrifice if necessary to fulfill our mission," said Brigadier General Jacob Kodji, commander of Joint Military District No. 4, which includes part of the area North and all the Far North. It is the only region in Cameroon that has suffered the exactions of the Boko Haram sect for over a year.

And to defeat the jihadists, General Valere Nka has been appointed to N'Djamena in Chad, the headquarters of the Joint Multinational Force where he was appointed second in command.

"The immediate challenge is the eradication of Boko Haram. It is therefore very easy access to the command of the Joint Multinational Force Station in N’Djamena next week for sure with my colleagues and coordination of operations,” he said.
