New Director of Chantier Naval gets a perfect installation ceremony

Nformi Alfred Forgwei Mbeng, the new Director has taken over as the new boss of the tumultuous Chantier Naval in Douala, Cameroon. He comes in as the fourth Director of the outfit within a stretch of four years.

The Minister of Transport, Robert Nkili, went ahead with a very succesful installation ceremony that took place on the 8th of May 2014.As the new Director General of CNIC (Chantier Naval et Industries du Cameroun), Alfred Forgwei Mbeng will be assisted by Roland Maxime Aka’a Ndi, and the President of the Administrative council: Louis Claude Nyassa.

Alfred Forgwei Mbeng, an Industrial Enginier was appointed on the 6th of May following an Extra Ordinary Session of the Administrative Council of CNIC in the Economic Capital Douala. The Minister of Transport from every indication returned from Douala a happy man after this successful installation.

A happy man because the souvenirs of the failed installation of Bernard Bayiha, who was appointed on the 12th of March 2014 as the Director of CNIC. It was both shocking and embarrassing when on the 20th of March, the day of his installation, he was no where near the official ceremonial grounds.

Nkilli, who had published an official announcement in relation to this installation explained on National Radio that the main problem at CNIC was emanating from the National Hydrocarbons Company abbreviated in French as SNH which happens to be the main share holder of CNIC.

Many however still remain baffled because Bernard Bayiha, who was appointed as the Director of CNIC was the Adviser of the Director General of SNH and it was he who always represented the Director sessions of the Administrative Council of Chantier Naval. The Director of SNH, Adolphe Moudiki certainly did not want Bernard Bayiha to assume the post of the Director of Chantier Naval without his consent.

He stood against the choice of Bernard Bayiha until the Minister of Transport was finally obliged to find a new director. Alfred Forgwei Mbeng is as such the first Cameroonian to head Chantier Naval after the controversial reign of Zacchaeus Mungwe Forjindam who was condemned for 12 years imprisonment in 2010 for swindling of public funds while working as the Director of Chantier Naval Chantier.
