Network of fake employment agencies disbanded in Yaounde

The regional office of the Employment and Vocational Training of the Central Region has disbanded a fake recruitment network of permanent employees and rural workers in Yaoundé.

Housed in a training center approved by the Ministry of tutelage, the structure proposed to give offers such as : 11 500 permanent employment, 40,000 rural work for a salary range between 60,000 and 600,000 CFA francs CFA.

It is no surprise that thousands of job seekers have taken the bait and cannot resist such an offer in these times when finding a stable and well paid job is difficult. Without considering the situation, many candidates flocked, and did not hesitate to fulfill certain registration fees amounting to some 25 000 CFA.

After a year of active complicity with officials of approved training centers, these scammers were arrested on June 8, by deep network of elements of the security forces in cooperation with regional leaders in Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training.

"They have cleverly set up their scam so that the job seeker who arrive and see it written that it is approved by the Ministry of Labour will accept automatically. We asked these people to stop this activity. The Governor of the Central Region who was intimated by the order assigned competent authorities to carry out the institution's closure," said Claude Bernard Telep, regional delegate of the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training.

Moreover, the police arrested representatives of the office structure on Monday, June 8, 2015, as many young unemployed people were culprits to the office. This is the case of a young rural engineer who in view of the structure of the documents finally expected to find a stable job.

"I was watching the salary. Bureau chief engineer is 400,000 CFA per month. And the area where I wanted to apply for is Ombessa which is an area in their brochure. I thought of applying for the area manager offer," he said.

To believed their well-prepared documents, partnerships with departments and with several towns seemed to demonstrate the seriousness of the offer.
