National Employment Fund celebrates 25 years of existence

The Director General of the structure held a press conference yesterday in Yaounde to reaffirm the role of the structure in the world of employment.

A press conference was the option chosen by the National Employment Fund (FNE), which celebrates 25 years of existence, to tell the public about its actions.

The Director General of the structure, Camille Moute à Bidias spoke before the media to recall the role of FNE in promoting jobs in Cameroon. Already in 25 years of existence, the structure had allocated nearly 444,000 young people into various jobs.

Hence the theme of the celebration: "The FNE: 25 years of relentless struggle for employment." Indeed, "unemployment is now a major concern in all countries of the world. Youth aged 15 to 24 account for 74 million unemployed and more than half (40 million) of them are found in Africa," said the CEO.

The missions of the structure are divided into four areas: market transparency, skills development, business creation and dissemination of information. To achieve them, the FNE has developed several programs for integration of young people into their support program for the development of rural jobs (Pader), the Pact for Youth Employment (EYP), the Graduate Employment Programme (PED) the Programme of Support to the integration of higher education graduates (PRAIDES) among others.

The press conference was also an opportunity to unwind the activities planned as part of the festivities launched Tuesday in Yaounde by the Minister of Employment and Vocational Training, Zacharie Perevet.

Thus, the Skills Assessment Centre, a new centre that the FNE provides business leaders is expected to be inaugurated in Douala. A power walk and a gala will be held next Saturday.
