“Mutations DP interogated on the instructions of the Presidency”

Paul Biya has called for the convocation of the director of publications of the Mutations newspaper, according to the Director of the Judicial Police who executed the orders.

Xavier Messè, yesterday, confirmed the convocation addressed to him by Jacques Dili, Director of the judicial police (Dpj), on Tuesday. According to the newspaper which recounted this meeting in its Thursday, July 30, 2015 edition, it was the last paragraph of the article on the clash between Ndong and Eyebe at Lobo titled: "Ridicule: Eyebe Ayissi et Ndoung Soumhet s’insultent en public,” which led to the convening of the editor by the Presidency of the Republic.

The author of this article, Yanick Yemga, head of politics, after illustrating other battles between elites in their different locality in the far North, Adamawa, South, East and West, wrote the following: "as examples and many others which demonstrate to the requisite standard that the Cameroonian administrative system is full of caimans who compete regularly in a ruthless manner and under the watchful eye of Paul Biya.” This was the last comment that triggered everything.

The Presidency believes that “Yanick Yemga insinuates that the head of state is in favour when elites are fighting", wrote the journal while quoting the words of the Dpj who said: "you cannot find other procedures than "under the benevolent eye of Paul Biya?". For Jacques Dili, this comment by Yanick Yemga is problematic for several reasons: "the current security context and the visit of Buhari.”

After discussions, advice and suggestions, the hearing ended. The Mutations Dp left around 3: 00 p.m. to sign the minutes of the hearing. It was noted to him that he can be recalled "if the need arises.”
