Muhammadu Buhari, President of Nigeria, is expected in Yaoundé for a two-day friendly and working visit on Wednesday.

According to a statement from the presidency of the Republic of Cameroon, released on Monday, Muhammadu Buhari will arrive in Yaoundé on Wednesday, July 29 and will leave on Thursday, July 30. He will have some discussions with his counterpart, President Paul Biya.

The statement from the presidency of the Republic however, did not specify the topics for discussion by the two heads of state. Nonetheless, clues suggested that aside meeting about trade between the two countries, Buhari and Biya will discuss the fight against Boko Haram.

Cameroon, unlike other states in the coalition fighting against the Islamic sect, has no 'right of pursuit' in the Nigerian territory.

Thus, Yaoundé has gone ahead to convince Abuja to grant them the right of pursuit against the terrorist group, Boko Haram.

After his election as head of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari visited Chad and Niger, the two countries engaged in the battle against Boko Haram alongside Nigeria.

Nigeria and Cameroon have historical relations. Nearly 4 million Nigerians have settled in Cameroon.

The two countries have had their military clash in the Bakassi conflict. The long dispute was won by Cameroon.
