The Regional Commission held a workshop on their selection on Monday in Yaounde.

For the 2015 batch, there are 1625 and 600 volunteers in the Central Region that have been selected as part of a training organized by the Agency of the national civic service for participation in development (ASCNPD).

Members of the Regional Selection Committee that called volunteers from the 2015 group of the Central Region for this purpose were chaired by the Secretary General of the governor's office, Oumarou Hamma Wabi yesterday in Yaounde.

"This commission has the discretion to validate the lists that have been primed in each division and district of the region. So we're talking today to validate the final list after the ten divisions of the Central Region," said Jeanne Okala Zengue, mission committee leader.

As for selections, 600 young men and women ranging from age between 17 and 21 years were selected from the standard school system of non-formal and regular education, for the relevant benefit for 40 days of a civic education training, physical sports, national integration, peace-building, outreach to Environment and aid.

They will not, however, be entitled to claim any compensation. "They will nevertheless be entitled to textbooks this year," said Ernest Ata Mvogo, regional chief of the antenna ASCNPD for the Centre.

The 1625 volunteers selected for the Central region are young people aged 18 to 40 years. The training period will be six months and will involve young people from 361 towns with five common groups. "These are young people who are already active in the fields of animal husbandry, agriculture and fishing. They will be trained in civic education and enjoy a strengthening of capacities in the sectors they already know, and after six months they will receive support from the ASCNPD," said Jeanne Okala Zengue.

As a reminder, these 9,000 volunteers and 6,000 conscripts will be retained across the territory at the end of the selection process.
