Minister cautions against abandoned containers at Douala Port

The Minister of transport, Pr Robert Nkili, the Governor of the Littoral Region Joseph Beti Assomo, the President of the governing body of DIT Hamadou Sali, the Director of the region of the Gulf of Guinea of Bolloré Africa Logistics Mohamed Diop, Executive Director of DIT Jakob Sidenius and many officials, conducted a visit to the Port of Douala Container Terminal on Saturday.

The Minister of transport indeed came to inquire about the decongestion of the Terminal process for containers in the Port of Douala on the one hand and provisions taken by DIT to cope with the end of year holidays on the other hand.

Doula International Terminal took this opportunity to present to the Minister of transport the newly acquired equipment. They included 04 cranes with a value of 3.5 billion CFA francs approved November 10 and 02 mobile cranes with a value of 1.3 billion delivered on October 10, 2014.

Equipped with spreaders, dump and other input tools, mobile crane HMK 300 E, mark Gottwald handle 40-foot containers full on 5 spans wide and 13 rows of containers of depth, without having to move along the ship.

On the largest ships, they can perform handling until the 16th row. They came indeed to strengthen the two porticos of the container terminal Wharf, pending delivery of 3rd portico of dock being acquired.

Four cranes of Park ultra modern built by Finnish firm Konecrane, leader on the world market of lifting equipment, are intended for a more rapid handling of containers to accelerate the productivity of the terminal. These efficient, compact and handy devices benefit from the latest developments in the technology of port handling equipment.

Thanks to their flexibility, these port handling equipment (cranes Park) and mobile dock cranes are an ideal extra equipment in overactive periods such as the feasts towards the end of year or in case of failure of the main facilities.
