Minhdu examines roadworks in Yaoundé

Jean Claude Mbwentchou inspected works on major highways in the capital Thursday. He travelled through four municipalities whose high ways are undergoing construction or rehabilitation. The Minister of housing and urban development went to check the level of performance of the work across public roads Thursday in Yaounde.

He found a good implementation rate: above 80%. Jean the first was the construction of the East of the city of Yaoundé. Four kilometers of paved road are constructed in two lanes of two corridors each and a two-metre Boardwalk. There are 260 STS curl. Denis Nguetcho, head of mission of control of work, said that the specification is executed at 82%.

The Ekounou crossroad segment which is part of the structuring network in Yaoundé was the second step. Work began here in January 2014 for a period of eight months. Biyem-Assi/Nsimeyong 8 km long highways funded by the public investment budget of Minhdu was also visited by Jean Claude Mbwentchou. The work, begun in July 2012 and could be delivered in December, in the opinion of Marcelin Dongog, head of the monitoring mission. He talked about 90% implementation rate. The work consisted of the enlargement of the existing tracks, planning of bus and taxi stops, public lighting and sanitation.

In almost all the construction sites same difficulties were faced: the delay in the payment of invoices for companies. Many pre-finance the work. Non-payment of compensation to the population resulted in delay in the release of rights-of-way. Similarly, dealers in electrical, telephone and water networks have not moved their facilities located in the area.
