Mincommerce calls for respect in prices of school materials

Prize Control teams displayed registered cost prizes of school materials during a recent field work carried out 20 August in Yaoundé.

Mincommerce sought remedy to regulate these prizes through an awareness campaign on homologous prices of textbooks and school uniforms, which recently took place in Yaoundé.

According Martin Charles Abessolo Monefong, Director of the prize control Brigade - and the Suppression of fraud at Mincommerce, the operation aims to sensitize stakeholders on compliance with the new prices in effect.

Three teams of about 10 members were deployed to bookstores, school institutions and other structures of book sale and school uniforms in the capital. They ensured the respect and implementation of the departmental measures by displaying the new prizes schedule, an action which received rather satisfaction and admiration as well among booksellers than among customers.

"Customers do not often believe the prices we give them” These lists will enable us to avoid all misunderstandings", assured Martine O., a bookseller.

If the display is a safe way of information, the implementation remains a permanent challenge due to the fact there is shortage of textbooks, however, Mincommerce wants to avoid speculation.

"The scarcity of books does not justify failure to comply with the price. We have set up a free phone number, to allow buyers to denounce any fluctuation in price" said, Martin Charles Abessolo Monefong.
