Massive arms seizure near Blangoua

Tensions are high after Muslims were held at gunpoint at two mosques in Limani in attempt to warn and scare villagers.

The people of Wambassi and Gadadia, Limani, Mayo-Sava, were shocked to be met by armed men as they arrived at their mosques during a regular Friday prayer.

Residents of Wambassi say it was impossible to exit and they could not get out.

Back up was called to the scene as soon as the news broke but the attackers had already escaped.

"They came to bully us. They said that it is us that have been informing the authorities and they were here to warn us," said a resident of Wambassi.

The military seized a large number of arms and ammunition around Blangoua, near the village of Larisky, on Saturday, including 34 AK47 rifles, 61 magazines, a 12.7 millimeter Chinese made guns with 440 ammo and 778 ammo 7.62.

Concern of a repeat attack is now rife in neighbouring villages of Nigeria, especially because the cult is renowned for kidnapping youngsters and forcefully recruiting them into their ranks. The most prominent case being that of the youth who joined the Rapid Intervention Battalion, in Garoua, last Saturday.
