Maroua Attacks: The atmosphere at hospitals

The entrance at the Maroua regional hospital, has been crowded with anxious Cameroonians willing to know the fate of their dear ones, present at the place of the suicide bombing, on Saturday 25th July , three days after the second attack.

Anxiety continuous to increase within the population,because no official information on the identity of dead or injured have been published.

According to source, victims have been hospitalised, but the very serious cases are in the reanimation ward ,thus five surgical operations have been carried out since the event.

Also,at the make-shift ward build-up in the yard of the hospital,the less severe cases are in their numbers.

Yet,the present challenge of medical team that has made them busy at work, since Saturday is to, stabilize the injured and have them evacuated to more specialized medical facilities nationwide.

The presence of an 18 month old little girl who sustained injury on the lap and the lower chest tells the story of the brutality of the incident.

According to sources, a total of 21 persons died and 85 others sustained injuries.

While the injured, cope with the pains and the population grieved with fear, security forces makes intensify checks at the hospitail.

The Governor of the far north region, who visited the victims shortly after the incident has promised to put in place security checkpoints everywhere especially in Maroua.
