Maroua Attack: Message from the National President of MRC

Maurice Kamto, Head of MRC party Maurice Kamto, Head of MRC party

My dear countrymen,

It is with a wounded heart and a troubled soul that I am addressing you today, July 22, 2015, just when the city of Maroua, capital of the region of the far North, has just been the target of a double suicide bombing that caused at least 13 deaths and 32 injured. These loose and wild attacks, although they have not yet been justified, are all trademarks of the jihadist Boko Haram group.

These despicable acts were after the double bombings that struck the martyr city of Fotokol on the night of 12 breaking into July 13 and killing 13 including 10 civilians, a Chadian military and wounding 7 out of which 4 were Chadian military and 3 Cameroonian soldiers.

The Cameroon Renaissance Movement (MRC) strongly condemns these cruel and inhuman acts and calls on the people of Cameroon to remain united and welded in this new event which marks a new turn in the struggle of our country against these murderers and not give in to psychosis that these barbarians want to impose on us. It is with the assistance of all Cameroonians that these rabid terrorists will be defeated.

In these painful times of the entire Republic, the MRC would like to commend, of a particular resonance, the memory of our compatriots on the theatre of these gruesome operations.

The MRC calls on the populations from the four corners of Cameroon, particularly those of the many localities already affected by these murderous attacks and whose life is now turned into a nightmare, to intensify their vigilance and to work with the administrative authorities and the defence forces. It encourages the government to ensure the safety of our citizens.

Once again, and as it has never ceased to reiterate, the MRC expresses gratitude to our valiant soldiers engaged at the front, fighting at the cost of their lives, so that the Republic is not subject to the dictates of these murderers.

The Cameroon Renaissance Movement, deeply upset by this tragic event, stands alongside the families of people missing or injured and by the voice of its national President, its most heartfelt condolences and assured deepest compassion.

The National President of the MRC

Maurice KAMTO.

Yaoundé, July 22, 2015.
