Magistrates, district attorneys sensitised on rent recovery

Sustainability is an important watchword in every enterprise or association.

Unrecovered resources have, in most cases, led to bankruptcy or closure of institutions in the country.

In order to avert such a situation, the Cameroon Leasing Association (CamLease), held a workshop in Bonapriso, Douala, to sensitise magistrates and district attorneys on the recovery of rents and equipment from clients in case such bills are not paid.

The sensitisation session came shortly after the one in Yaounde, with over 50 magistrates and district attorneys in attendance.

According to the President of the association, Pierre Kam, the association puts equipment at the disposal of companies who in return pay rents or own the equipment after sometime depending on the contract signed between the two parties.

As to why the legal department has to come in, the president said since they give out the equipment without guarantee as ordinary banks do, there is need to call the attention of magistrates on how to recover their rents and equipment from clients in case of non-payment since on their own, they will lose both the rents and the equipment.

At the end of the sensitisation seminar, participants must have had a good mastery of leasing, and expertise to speed up procedures in treating petitions.

It should be noted that in order to improve on the business climate as well as to inject an appropriate dynamism in the production sector, the government chose five sectors to benefit from leasing including industries, agriculture, transport, tourism and technology.
