High Schools and Colleges in Cameroon reopened on Monday September 7 for the 2015-2016 academic year, as scheduled.

Students will begin a fresh year with new textbooks and notebooks after three months of rest.

Even as families are in the final preparation to ensure a successful school year for their children, it is also a time for the mobilization of staff of Secondary Education to discuss on issues for a smooth year. They included consultation meetings between central and decentralized services, meeting with leaders, and publication on safety in schools and colleges, among others.

On the eve of this important occasion, Cameroon Tribune met with the Minister of Secondary Education, Louis Bapes Bapes, to address issues as diverse as recruitment and enrollment in public schools, reform the education system and teacher absenteeism.
