The Minister of Youth and Civic Education, Bidoung Mkpatt, on July 8, 2015, met the President of the “Association Afrique-France Economie et Culture.” Finding solutions to youth challenges continues to be a major objective of government.

It was in this light that the Minister of Youth and Civic Education, Bidoung Mkpatt, on Wednesday, July 8, 2015, received Nicole Chaaban, President of the “Association Afrique-France Economie et Culture.” Present at the meeting were Directors and other senior officials of the ministry who took time off to explain their work to the guest under the chair of the Inspector General of Services, Selema Akedzol.

Speaking at the end of the audience, Nicole Chaaban disclosed that she was received by President Paul Biya in October 2005. Following the meeting, the Head of State requested that she meet government institutions to see how they could work with her association.

Since 10 years, she explained, they have been organising conferences on subjects like agriculture, fish farming and energy. They hope to discuss telecommunications and youth matters like jobs, civic education and education in the near future. According to Nicole Chaaban, her 10-year-old association has always taken youth problems seriously.

She however made it clear that the only assistance her association can offer to Cameroonian youth is to find out their problems and then present them to the authorities. The objective of the “Association Afrique-France Economie et Culture” that meets twice a year is to facilitate the sharing of information.

The next conference on telecommunications will hold in November 2015. The association has Cameroonian members, including Hon. Roger Melingui, the Vice President, Special Adviser, Serges Tankoua and Director of Publication, Prof. Laurent Charles Boyomo.
