MINFOF on a new path to forest sustainability

The Second Phase of the Sectorial Forests and Environment Programme (PSFE) carried out within the frame work of the French Debt Relief and Development Project C2D has been launched.

The main innovation as the second phase takes off is the adoption of a new strategy to better manage Cameroon’s forests.

This strategy is based on the sustainable management of ecosystems accompanied by the development of human capacities.

During the launch, Cameroon’s Minister of Forestry and Wildlife, Philip Ngole Ngwese, the French Ambassador to Cameroon Christine Robichon and the Coordinator of the French Development Agency, Herve Conan agreed to intensify PSFE actions.

The main actions of the Sectorial Forests and Environment Programme include:

-Management and follow-up of Cameroon’s forest

-On-the spot transformation of wood in a bit to create more jobs and fight poverty improving on the system of monitoring notification and verification.

-The financing of pilot projects.
