Logone flood victims salute Biya's gesture

The last victims who insisted to camp on the dike in a State of degradation in the area of Dougui were evicted last Friday. Echoing the message from the Minister of economy, planning and land use (Minepat), Governor Midjiyawa Bakari instructed the prefet of the Department of Mayo-Danay to use "all means" to ensure that this dangerous place be released as soon as possible.

For the time being, 1,827 victims have been registered in the town of Barker-Palam, in the Borough of Kai - Kai. To these men, women and children, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi conveyed the message of comfort and solidarity from the head of State and Government Thursday.

Minepat led in Mayo-Danay an inter-ministerial mission to realize the magnitude of the breaking of the dam of the Logone River and especially to measure the consequences of this disaster. During the visit, Minepat brought along food, drugs and sleeping equipment and delivered to the disaster victims.

"The president of the Republic wants you to know that he is with you. I am giving you the help that the head of State has kindly sent you during these difficult times", underlines Minepat.

For Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, "if we cannot do anything against natural phenomena, we can do something against the consequences they cause”. Therefore, he asked the population to move from the dike to facilitate repairs and avoid unpleasant surprises.
