Lionesses reject their bonuses

The government has fulfilled its promise by paying the Indomitable Lionesses their bonuses barely 24 hours after their return from the Canada 2015 Women’s World Cup.

The Cameroonian women’s national team players was given 21 million CFA francs each on Wednesday, June 24, 2015.

But under the finance law of 2015, the Ministry of Finance has decided to take 16 percent of the 21 million of bonuses to be paid.

This decision was challenged by the Indomitable Lionesses. "It is public money. We must apply the law, there is nothing to discuss," it was explained to the players after a member of the team rushed into the hotel Mont Febe dissatisfied with the money paid.

"We are not going to take this money, ifit is not complete. There is nothing to take," said one of the Lionesses. During this dialogue, voices were raised. And until this issue is solved, it will be the status quo and each party will stick to its position.

And even within opinions, views are divided. Some think the law is the law and must be applied while others believe that the Minister of Finance for the exceptional case of the Indomitable Lionesses, should grant exemptions as he often did when he must pay tariffs.

The Lionesses can now return home after their bonuses were paid but in less than ten days they will return to prepare for the playoffs of Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
