Lionesses U-20: Kamdem attributes defeat to Barack Obama's visit

Charles Kamdem, Coach of U-20 Lionesses, has attributed the team’s defeat at the qualifying match for the World Cup to the security pressures from Barack Obama's visit to Ethiopia on Sunday.

After the 2-1 defeat, the ‘daughters’ of Charles Kamdem were let down considering that they gave their all. With a 1-0 score at the 18th minute, they managed to get an equalizer, 1-1, at the end of the first half.

At this stage, they were qualified after the two results were put together(0-0) in the first leg. But everything became sour in the 2nd half because of an Ethiopian goal that hindered the Lionesses’ success until the final whistle.

Pressure from the public with an estimated number of 50,000 spectators, the inexperience of the young Lionesses at such a prominent competition, the leader, Meyong’s injury which occurred in the 70th minute, the arbitration errors, among others contributed to Cameroon’s poor results.

Based on the match played on Sunday, Kamdem explained that his selection lost "with tears in hand". Indomitable U-20 Lionesses could not neutralize the (2-1) score in the second half of the match against the Ethiopian ladies in their group.
