Laurent Esso wins land case against the State

Laurent Esso had lodged a complaint in early May 2015 against the MINDCAF for fraud in the establishment of a land title. "He believed the new title encroaches heavily on his plot of land, testifying to irregularities in issuance," we learn from the newspaper Kalara on Monday, October 26, 2015.

In 1984, Laurent Esso, Minister of State in charge of Justice had acquired about three hectares of land in Yaounde Nkolondom. He was then Technical Advisor to the Presidency of the Republic. A purchase of which he formalized with the administration of the boundary areas for his plot of land.

According to the newspaper, "his registration resulted in awarding the title deed No. 15879 / Mfoundi in July 1985". 30 years later, September 24, 2014, the MINDCAF grants a land to a community headed by Mr. Bihina Otele, according to Kalara.

However, the land under MINDCAF encroached on the lands of Esso, "the portion of land in dispute was actually added to the community land", reports the newspaper.

Laurent Esso decided "to take on the MINDCAF agents and surveyors," it is reported. It followed a first charge against Ms. Kung Bessike Jacqueline Minister of Lands, Land Registry and Land Affairs. This action did not go any further. He then appealed to the administrative judge for the cancellation of the land title by MINDCAF. This was done this Tuesday, October 20, 2015.
