A dozen of employees of the hospital yesterday, abandoned their patients to make the public aware of their frustrations which has to do with the general review of the status of workers of public health institutions.

"This is our best way of expression because the list of claims are lengthy. The reform we are all asking for includes treatments, salary among others”, said Apolo Obeke one of the leaders of the movement.

There are actually two unions on strike putting on hold the hospital activities at Laquintinie. They are the Syndicat national des personnels médico-sanitaires du Cameroun (Synpems) and the Syndicat national des personnels des établissements/entreprises du secteur de la santé du Cameroun (Cap/Santé).

"It concerns us all when the working environment is troubled”, confirmed an anonymous employee while adding that he is not a member of the organizations that organized the strike.

Both organizations were called for a meeting by the management of the hospital on the eve of the strike to give their minimum support during emergencies and assist doctors.

Official sources from the Laquintinie Hospital have hinted an imminent crisis after the strike supposed to end today, Tuesday, June 2, 2015.
