The government has presented the results of the attacks that occurred yesterday in the Far North with a total of 20 deaths and 145 injured.

During a press conference yesterday, the Minister of Communication, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, gave a summary on what happened. "Two attacks took place at the market. The first attack took place at about 11 h30. A young lady who was carrying the bomb detonated at a millet and peanuts market. Unfortunately valiant compatriots have died and many others were injured. When others sought to shelter by fleeing from the area of attack, another insurgent who was carrying a bomb took advantage of the situation and exploded it. Here too, many of our compatriots lost their lives.”

The Minister of Communication said that "the administrative authorities, the defense and security forces have employed the services of the medical personnel who were in the area. They were Doctors Without Borders, those of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Military doctors and civilian doctors. All arrangements have been made by our defense and security forces to bring the wounded the care they need so that their life is not in danger."

Faced with this situation, and on behalf of the head of state, the Minister of Communications congratulated "the chivalrous courage of our populations who sometimes risk their lives to defy Boko Haram or to neutralize its elements by either conveying information to military or civilian authorities. Due to this, many leaders of Boko Haram were arrested and taken out of harm's way. They will be summoned before our courts to know their fate."
