A few hours after the double bomb attack on Sunday morning at Kangalari, an individual in possession of weapons and explosives, was arrested by the Cameroonian army in the town of Double in the Mayo-Sava state of the Far North, "he is currently being interrogated," says a source.

The arrest of this individual whose identity was not revealed, was made possible thanks to the collaboration of members of the vigilance committee of Double. "The worst was narrowly avoided," adds the security source.

As part of the fight against Boko Haram and terrorism, the authorities have set up 150 vigilance committees throughout the Far North region. The vigilance committees are made up of more than 2000 volunteers working closely with administrative authorities and defense forces, we learn.

The double attack on Sunday at Kangalari, the official death toll recorded 11 dead and 29 wounded. The most serious cases were transferred to the regional hospital in Maroua, the capital of the Far North region.

According to security sources, two young female suicide bombers, aged between 13 and 15, detonated their bombs early Sunday morning. The first detonated her bomb shortly after 6 h 30 local time (5:30 GMT). She died alone. The second triggered her bomb some 40 meters away in a makeshift cafeteria where the inhabitants were taking their breakfast.

The two explosions killed 11 people including nine civilians, two suicide bombers and wounded 29.
