The lawyer for Jean-Marc Bikoko, Mr. Emmanuel Edou, says the activist who was arrested on September 15, 2015 in Yaounde has informed him of a decision by the police to request for an order to detain him for 15 more days.

"In the morning, I got a disturbing news. Jean-Marc Bikoko told me on the phone that the police want to impose a 15 days renewable detention on him. This decision must be signed by the Governor of the Central Region," the lawyer said.

Jean-Marc Bikoko was arrested for organizing a debate on political change in Cameroon under the chairmanship of Dynamic Citizen group, a civil society organisation.

Jean-Marc Bikoko finds himself in trouble with five other companions. They are Agnes Adelaide Metougou, Jessie Bikoko, Ndjalla Epangue Yves and journalist François Fogno Fotso.

The coalition "Turn the page," a civil society organisation which is part of the Dynamic citizens group consisting of fifty organizations in Africa and Europe "condemns with the greatest vehemence the serious violations of freedom of expression and calls the international public to speak against these acts of repression and intimidation against the Cameroonian civil society, especially members of the 'Turn the page' campaign, exercising its civil function, reflection and analysis of the civic society".

'Turn the page' called on the United Nations, the European Union, and the African Union to make every effort for the release of those detained.

The authorities accuse Mr Bikoko for organizing a demonstration without permission.
