Iya Mohamed to know his fate on September 3

Iya Mohammed Iya Mohammed

The counsel of Iya Mohamed faced the judge to respond to the pleadings of the plaintiff on many accusations attributed to their client on August 20, according to the L’œil du Sahel newspaper.

The Monday, August 24, 2015 publication stated that the intervention of Me Balamaken et Balla Manasse, who are the main council, said "of all charges brought against our client, no physical evidence was provided throughout the process.”

The newspaper pointed out that in order to convince the prosecution, the defense provided answers, point by point, on the charges against Mohamed Iya.

Salary wrongly obtained: All salaries were given with the approval of the Administrative Board of the company. This was an argument which was confirmed by Louis Zanga Eyéya, chairman of Sodecoton, at the relevant time and who also appeared before the bar April 14, 2015.

Ownership of the football club Coton Sport: defense noted that since the departure of Mohamed Iya from Sodecoton, the company continued to be involved in the management of Coton Sport. “We remembered that during an Extraordinary General Meeting held in 2015, the leaders of Sodecoton had formalized the withdrawal of their company's shareholder Coton Sport. For the defense, these acts helped to prove that the first team of Garoua was not the property of the former CEO, as claimed by the prosecution.”

As a reminder, a total of five complaints were brought against Iya Mohamed and ten employees. These concerned the undue payment of wage benefits, losses of stocks of oils, lovebirds and kickbacks, illegal spending towards Coton Sport, payment of an inconsistent delivery and removal of a legal basis without compensation. This was a total damage of almost 12 billion FCFA attributed to Iya Mohamed and his coacusés. These occurred while the latter was general manager of the Sodcoton during the years; 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.
