Issa Tchiroma and Ahmadou Vamoulke at 'loggerheads' ?

The Minister of Communication has accused the Director General of CRTV for bypassing his office to directly present a correspondence to the Prime Minister.

For that matter, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, Minister of Communication and Ahmadou Vamoulke, Director General of the Cameroon Radio and Television (CRTV) are reportedly not on good terms at the moment. The origin of this tension is said to have stemmed from the acquisition of the rights of retransmission of the African Cup of Nations, Equatorial Guinea 2015.

According to the reporter who shared the information on his Facebook page, the DG of CRTV sent a correspondence directly to the Prime Minister's office, without the knowledge of the communications minister. A letter from the head of the Government services later referred the document to the Department of Communication for scrutiny and consideration.

This new quarrel between the two men is believed to have started from an earlier one concerning the request for explanation recently addressed by the Minister of Communication to the DG who had challenged a decision by the Government to assign a rehabilitation of CRTV deal of 110 billion to a Chinese company, Startimes market.

The contract signed on 18th December at Yaoundé was intended to equip CRTV with advanced technological facilities and also reconfigure the technical device of the office. A project that would last 24 months. The Director General of the Office of radio and national television also had his eyes on the Huawei company seeking a $148 billion Cfa Francs for the project and thus took offence.
