The Minister of Communication (Mincom), Issa Bakary Tchiroma, has severely warned the media and reminded them on the ethics of their profession via CRTV radio 1pm news on Thursday, August 27, 2015.
"For some time, some national media have resorted, openly and repeatedly, to defamatory attacks and sometimes offensive ones against foreign countries and their official leaders," read the first line of the release.
He reminded the concerned on “the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of Cameroon in the states to which the head of state, His Excellency Paul Biya, has always expressed his commitment and also up to Cameroonian media.”
Issa Tchiroma recalled that Cameroonian law prohibits insults "against them" and that "Cameroonian law cannot be exempt from this obligation even for professional reasons which are related to compliance with ethics and ethics of journalism professions."
Also, he warned the media, "for non-compliance of this duty," to use the "right to use its regulatory powers in accordance with current regulations and, where appropriate."
