International Youth Merit: Secretary general expected Wednesday

The secretary general of the International Youth Merit, Clive Cecil John May, will pay a working visit to Cameroon from Wednesday until Saturday.

A status review meeting towards preparations for the secretary general of the International Youth Merit and the installation of the new officials by the National Preparatory of Minjec took place on Monday in Yaoundé.

Everything has been put in place at the Ministry of Youth and Civic Education (Minjec) for the secretary general to have a pleasant stay.

This was revealed during the installation ceremony of the new leaders of the International Merit of the youth of Cameroon and assessment of the state of preparations for Clive Cecil John May's visit where the various committees said that all the arrangements have been made.

"This visit aims to evaluate the terms of the revitalization of the International Youth Merit program and to assess the proof of a possible visit by the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, to Cameroon. He will continue this evaluation in other countries such as Ghana, Senegal and Nigeria. Such countries are also being approached by the International Bureau of Merit of youth to host this illustrious guest,"said the Minjec, Bidoung Mkpatt.

By installing the new leaders recently appointed, the Minjec recommended the team to take urgent and appropriate measures to ensure the smooth functioning of the International Youth Merit throughout the ten regions of the country.

He also reminded the new graduates that their appointment as young officials in the association is to continue the reorganization process in the country. This is in order to make it more dynamic and capable of ensuring close supervision of the people.

"This change also comes as preparations that have already been launched for the fiftieth anniversary of the Festival of Youth in 2016," said Bidoung Mkpatt.

In terms of national civic education campaign, the Minjec said the objectives of the International Youth Merit is specifically youth empowerment through the acquisition of knowledge and life skills, community service by promoting volunteerism and civic education, worship merit, etc. as well as perfectly combine those of the intensive civic education campaign being implemented.

The International Youth Merit founded in 1956 operates in more than 140 countries. This organization aims to encourage young people from 14 to 25 years to invest in a diverse program of activities which will enable them to develop their personal skills to fulfill their role in society.
