Cameroon and the other 52 members of the Commonwealth organisation is celebrating the commonwealth Day this 12thMarch 2015under the theme: “A Young Commonwealth”.
Activities to mark the day which began on 7th March have been organised at the behest of the Ministry of External Relations in focusing on the Youths.
The Commonwealth Organisation is sending the strong message; that young people are capable of contributing to National Development.
The youth have potentials that can be exploited and they deserve to be empowered. Activities to mark the day includes a panel discussion by youths, the presentation of prizes, and laureates of the Queen’s Young Leaders’ Award and the Commonwealth Youth Workers’ Award.
Alongside these awards is an Exhibition highlighting the state of Cameroon’s relation with the commonwealth and the opportunities the commonwealth offers the Youth.
Weeklong activities began with a grand march pass and a work to sensitise youths on the dangers of extremism terrorism and radicalism.
The commonwealth day in Cameroon coincides with the 20th anniversary of the country’s adherence into the gentle man’s club.
