Honorable Mayor François Essame is dead

François Essame Ndengue, owner of Buca Travel Agency, passed away at the National Social Insurance Fund hospital in Yaoundé on July 7, 2015 after a long illness.

The business man, popularly known as Bernard Tapie, was a politician and an activist of the ruling party, Cameroon People's Democratic Movement(CPDM). He was also the Deputy and Mayor of the Sangmélima Municipality.

Under his rule and given his outstanding management, the Southern region municipality was given the Palme Award for being the cleanest city in the country more than once. Hence, he was nicknamed 'Mr. clean'.

Aged sixty years, François Essame was from Dja and Lobo which is also where Paul Biya, President of the Republic of Cameroon, hails from.
