Himore Medical launches the marketing of first Cardiopad

The first African medical tablet manufactured by the Cameroonian engineer Arthur Zang is now marketed in Cameroon by the start-up Himore Medical.

First 100 kits are available and another 200 will be added to this first batch in February 2016, announced the inventor of this tablet in an interview with Cameroon Tribune.

According to Arthur Zang, 20 orders (they are passed exclusively on the website of Himore Medical) both from hospitals in Cameroon as the Central Africa sub-region have been registered to date.

Furthermore, the Cardiopad kits, now available on the market, is at a price of FCFA two million per unit, sources informed. It is an improved version of the device.

"The feedback from the pilot phase, which started in 2014, reported that the sensor allowed us to use just four bodies to collect electrocardiogram signals. But the human body has 12. We received training in China and Korea with funding of Rolex, to design a new sensor to collect all these signals and thereby develop a full diagnosis," said Arthur Zang.

The parts used in the production of the first 300 Cardiopad come from China. To transport these nearly 700 Kg of electronic components from the Middle Kingdom to the port of Douala in Cameroon, said Arthur Zang, his start-up Himore Medical benefited from an exemption on customs duties granted by the government Cameroonians.

To recap, the Cardiopad is a device to take and transmit remote cardiac parameters of a patient. This invention that has earned international recognition for the young Cameroonian engineer, Arthur Zang, overcomes the lack of cardiologists in hospitals.
