Hemodialysis:Three deaths recorded in four days

Hemodialysis Hemodialysis

Three patients, suffering from kidney failure, died at the General Hospital in Douala from Friday, August 15 to Wednesday, August 19, 2015.

According to the daily Le Messager in its Thursday, August 20, 2015 edition, if it concerns one of these cases of pulmonary complications, "it is difficult not to make the link between the recent breakdowns in the stocks of hemodialysis equipment. This was the origin of the paralysis detected in the service that supported the insufficient kidney in recent weeks and the waltz of recorded deaths.”

In the columns of the daily Cameroon Tribune, Executive Director of the General Hospital in Douala, Pr Eugène Belley- Priso, acknowledged that "hemodialysis service has never known failure since 2008. It is true that these days, there was a small problem with stock which forced us to carry out reprogramming

"We ordered a little more than 30 000 kits that were overdue in maritime traffic. Also I want to congratulate and encourage the patients first, for their solidarity because dialysis centers have had to transfer the sick. These patients have not been much noisy. I therefore wish to reassure that with the arrival of nearly 28 000 kits, their problems will be resolved,” said Minister André Mama Fouda.
