Govt launches program to promote youth employment

Cameroon has launched a special program to fight youth unemployment in the far north of the country, a region grappling with Nigeria’s Boko Haram insurgency, government sources said on Thursday.

According to the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Planning (MINEPAT), the program aims to create 2,000 jobs in twenty localities particularly susceptible to attacks by the Islamist group.

Those eligible under the job-creation program will be provided with the necessary skills to perform activities.

Through this special project, the government seeks to stop Boko Haram from taking advantage of youth unemployment.
