Gov't reshuffle expected after Biya's Europe trip

Sources close to the Director of the Civil Cabinet at the Presidency of the Republic, say Fako member of parliament, Emilia Monjowa Lifaka, current second Vice Speaker of the National Assembly, has been earmarked by Minister Belinga Eboutou to replace long-serving House Speaker Cavaye Yegue Djibril.

This proposal from Belinga Eboutou comes after several months of negotiations between Belinga and Lifaka. According to our source, following the successful holding of the Commonwealth parliamentary summit in Yaoundé late last year, where Lifaka showcased her political prowess; Minister Belinga Eboutou gave her the green light that he will influence President Paul Biya to support her replacement of Cavaye Yegue Djbril as House Speaker.

This turn of events is expected to take effect when parliament goes into session on March 11, and will also see a Far Northerner as Prime Minister and Head of Government.

The changes that will be unprecedented are being discussed by President Biya and his European allies during his short visit which started on Sunday the 1st of March.

Our senior intelligence officer in Yaoundé, the nation’s capital also revealed that the Lekie supporters within the ruling CPDM party have plotted the demise of Cavaye Djibril with the support of Talba Mallam and Amadou Ali, two Far Northerners who want power to remain in the north after president Biya.

Our South West correspondent who contributed to this report observed that, Lifaka is pushing for a revolutionary change in power and politics to her advantage.

A very close source in Lifaka’s entourage told us that she has spent all her life following Chief Inoni who fell from grace, to be the next top leader from the Fako constituency.

Interestingly, she is ready to go to whatever lengths it takes to be on top. Our Lifaka source added that she (Lifaka) has two gigantic houses in Buea, but she does not spend a night in any of these buildings.

At the time of writing this report, our reporter attempted to contact Hon. Lifaka through a senior South West CPDM elite who instead hinted that the MP is still keeping a low profile following the death of her father at the Buea General Hospital recently.

With Martin Belinga running the government now, it is widely believed that President Paul Biya may be influenced by Belinga Ebotuou to make a cabinet reshuffle at a time when the national cohesion and national unity is at stake.
