Gov't officials accused of stealing food assistance

Trucks loaded with rice and other basic food necessities belonging to the SOACAM society, heading for Kousseri in the Far North region was reportedly diverted from its route, around Kangaleri and later found empty.

Our source in Yaounde revealed that the goods were handed over to Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo'o, Minister at the Presidency of the Republic in charge of Defence to be given to soldiers at the war front and victims of Boko Haram atrocities in the Far North region.

The goods which is meant to be given out as aid to Boko Haram victims and soldiers include a total of 20 tonnes of sugar granules; 36 tonnes of banana; 2 trucks of plantain; 50,000 boxes of sardines; 20,000 bottles of mineral water; 2,525 cartons of refined vegetable oil; 1,000 cans of 5 litres of refined oil; 50 tonnes of flour; 4,525 boxes of soap; 40 tonnes of rice.
