Girl Dies Returning From 'Funeral'

The corpse of a young lady whose only name CT got as Caren is presently lying at the Douala Laquintinie Hospital Mortuary.The cause of her death was unknown at press time. According to the account by other traders in the Akwa neighbourhood where she was a shop attendant, she told them she would be travelling for the West Region to attend a funeral.

After work on Friday January 10 evening, she did her hair in a nearby beauty salon ahead of the ceremony, after which she left on the same night to an unknown destination. Her absence from work on Monday 13 did not yet raise eyebrows. It was only later in the afternoon when one of them received a call from her mobile phone number that panic gripped them.

The caller identified herself as Caren's friend with whom she travelled but that the latter feel ill on the way and died before they reached Laquintinie. Following the caller's directions, those who immediately rushed to the hospital discovered her corpse while her supposed friend had vamoosed.
