Gervais Mendo Ze, former CRTV manager arrested

Gervais Mendo Ze, former CRTV General manager has been arrested. Mendo Ze was picked up yesterday over embezzlement charges.

It is not yet clear the exact amount he is accused of having embezzled, but the former CRTV boss who was earlier accused of embezzling billions while he was GM at the state audio visual media house had earlier admitted his crime.

He allegedly paid part of the money while promising to pay the rest in due time.

Mendo Ze after his grilling at the Special Criminal Court yesterday was immediately conveyed to the Kondengui maximum security prison.

The emblematic former GM was a Biya confidant for the over 10 years that he served at the helm of the state media corporation.

Charges against him are expected to be made public by the legal department of the Special Criminal Court in the days ahead.
