German consulate accused of abduction attempt

One Adamou Sahalatou has filed a complaint to the Judicial Police in Yaoundé accusing “Thomas Sherer and others for attempted kidnapping and abduction of minors” on Tuesday, July 21, 2015.

According to Le Messager in its July 22, 2015 edition, "the complaint is the father of the two girls who accused the German consulate in Cameroon and others of the attempted abduction of two girls aged 10 and 12 years.”

Sahalatou recounted: “On the evening of July 18, 2015, our children were taken to Mr. Thomas Sherer’s house and kept there for 23 hours through an accomplice."

The children later said that "the accused had promised to take us abroad immediately by air,” reported the newspaper. An appointment was made for the following day at Brickyard neighborhood in Yaoundé to prepare the documents for the trip which was to remain a secret.

Le Messenger informed that with the help of a police officer and a member of the army, the daring trap by the family worked. The suspects were taken to the judicial police, after escaping a lynch by the people in the area, where three people are in custody to probe into the matter.

But the main question was; who allowed the release of the he German consulate? According to the reporter, the woman who served as an intermediate was in regular contact with the girls for close to two weeks, offering them small gifts, money and promising them a life of luxury.

During two different confrontations, "the consulate appeared in a beige jacket combined with a jeans trousers and a pair of sneakers while sporting a black backpack. The man seemed quite concerned despite the presence of the counsel.

After a short conversation in the principal's office, he was released. The lady who was in contact with girls was sipping beer in a bar located right opposite the PJ. But there is no information about what was said or concluded, noted the newspaper.
