President of the Professional Football League, General Pierre Semengue, has accused club managers of the major championships, Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, of embezzling funds meant for players.

According to the former Chief of Staff of the Cameroonian Armed Forces, funds allocated by the State for the payment of salaries of players and their coaches do not always get to them.

"We have a serious problem right now: the lack of money. This put the clubs in a state of destitution. The little money that comes from the state, instead of going directly to players and their coaches, is used by those who manage the teams,” said the old soldier who stated his intention of finding ways to make the clubs function better.

General Semengue was speaking at the awards ceremony for the best players of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 Championships in May and June 2015. The event was organized by the National Union of Footballers of Cameroon (Synafoc) on Thursday, July 2, 2015, in Douala.

Alphonse Kouaté Simo of Fovu and Rodolphe Danger Ngombé Mbengué of Botafogo were crowned best players in Ligue 1, while Samuel Essome Njangui (Dynamo Douala) and Andres Nia Tchounkeu (Eding sports Lékié) were named best players of Ligue 2.

The event held at the headquarters of Synafoc in Yassa (south exit of Douala) saw the participation of Cameroonian football luminaries like Roger Milla. It was chaired by a representative of the Governor of the Littoral region.
