U.S. companies, General Electric and Environmental and Chemical Corporation (ECC), will launch in the coming days a new treatment unit with a capacity of 55 000 m3 per day in Akomnyada, a locality which is already carrying out a water treatment station of 100 000 m3/d.

This was made known on June 4, 2015, during a tour of the leaders of these companies on the site of the project led by the Cameroon Water Utilities (Camwater).

This project, which will be implemented over a period of 18 months, is funded to the tune of 32 billion francs Cfa by USA Exim Bank, with main funder Société Générale in Paris, said the DG of Camwater, Jean Williams Sollo.

With its 55 000 m3 of water per day, the unit that will be put in place by General Electric and ECC will allow it to supply the city of Yaounde, the Cameroonian capital, with about 200,000 m3 of drinking water per day (compared to 100,000 cubic metres currently), if one integrates the 50 000 m3 to be provided by another unit of treatment being finalized by the Geofor company.
