Fru Ndi prescribes judicious mgt of council resources

The National Chairman of the Social Democratic Front, SDF, Ni John Fru Ndi, has exhorted Mayors of SDF-run Councils to use the resources at their disposal for the interest and benefit of the people.

Fru Ndi was addressing the Mayors at his Ntarinkon residence, while receiving New Year wishes from the custodians of the Councils.

Referring to the Mayors as the first siblings of the SDF party, Fru Ndi said they were the first elected structure to join the local government before Parliamentarians and, today, the Senators.

As direct representatives of the people, he reminded them to watch their every move because their good works will be judged by posterity. In this respect, the SDF chieftain urged the Mayors to stringently manage the Council resources because their deeds and misdeeds will be remembered by history.

Beside their routine chores as Mayors, Fru Ndi advised them to plant fruit trees, “even if you do not want to eat them, posterity shall harvest these fruit trees.” He equally encouraged the Mayors to plant economic stress such as mahogany, which, experts say, take at least 80 years to mature.

“I have planted over a thousand mahoganies and I shall not be there in 80 years. I wonder where I shall be about 80 years to come. So I am not planting these trees for Fru Ndi,” he said.

The Spokesperson of the Mayors, Donatus Njong, Mayor of Kumbo Council, assured the Chairman that they will deliver the goods according to the prescriptions of the party. He said the Mayors came to wish their National Chairman a successful 2015.

He prayed to God to give Fru Ndi the energy to sail the political ship of Cameroon to safer shores.

“We also came, Mr. Chairman, to sincerely thank you for the protection you have been giving the Mayors, as we grapple with development issues,” Mayor Njong stated.
