French Foreign Affairs Minister to visit Cameroon

The French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Laurent Fabius has announced that he shall, in the days ahead, visit Cameroon, Chad and Niger; countries that have suffered from Boko Haram attacks.

Mr Fabius disclosed some details of the tri-nation solidarity trip in an interview on Europe 1-Le Monde-iTélé on February 15, 2015.

Although he did not mention the exact date of the visit, he said France will support the African Union’s plan to set up an 8,700-man Multinational Task Force to combat Boko Haram.

Meanwhile, leaders of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) shall hold a one-day security summit in Yaounde on February 16, 2015.

Deliberations of this body’s Council for Peace and Security in Central Africa (COPAX) shall be focused on the fight against the Boko Haram terrorist group.

Speaking to the Wall Street Journal on February 13, 2015, President Goodluck Jonathan of the Federal Republic of Nigeria officially requested military aid from the USA to help suppress the Islamist sect.
