Former minister Lazare Essimi Menye is currently in intensive care at the National Social Insurance Fund (CNPS) hospital in Yaounde. According to the newspaper La Meteo, No. 731 of October 15, 2015, the former member of the government collapsed Sunday 11 October at his home in Yaounde. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

According to the Bi-weekly, the former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (MINADER) misjudged his health during the reshuffling of government last October.

Following the cardiovascular attack, Essimi Menye will not be present on the political scene in the coming days. President of the Departmental Commission for renewal of basic operations of the offices of Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM), he had an appointment in the field recently.

On another ground, news on the health of the former MINADER could have perverse effects, says La Meteo. Could Essimi Menye have orchestrated his hospitalization to evade justice in his country through a medical evacuation? Asks the newspaper indicating that according to "the gossips, under the pretext of the AVC, the entourage of former MINADER would project to seek authorization for evacuating abroad, for more appropriate care."

Among the cases that could lead him to court, La Meteo cites among others the Amity Bank case in which Essimi Menye is accused of having "had big interests" when he was Minister of Finance (MINFI). The Former MINFI abused his position to steer the folder in promoting the diversion of an estimated $ 9.025 billion F CFA, informs the Bi-weekly paper.
